World-famous university cities meet hideaway villages on this tour of Eastern England. We'll travel by river and road, across the stunning North York Moors and the Peak District National Park, following in the footsteps of Vikings, Romans and royalty.

Day 1 - Edinburgh - Lindisfarne - Alnwick
Meeting in the iconic city of Edinburgh, we'll cross into England to meet with hideaway villages on this grand tour. Our first stop will be Lindisfarne, where we'll discover the dramatic ruins. To end the day, we'll carry on to Alnwick Castle where we'll be welcomed into the majestic home of the Duke of Northumberland (and spot the sets used in episodes of Downton Abbey). On the menu tonight: a delicious welcome dinner. Meals - Dinner

Day 2 - Alnwick - Durham - Whitby - North York Moors

The Normans made their mark on this part of England, and possibly the finest example of this is in Durham. Today
we'll step inside the Cathedral, a magnificent architectural monument now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Our route will then carry us to Whitby, and onwards to Captain Cook's Museum. Tonight, we'll rest our heads in the
charming North York Moors district and enjoy a group dinner. Meals - Breakfast & Dinner

Day 3 - North York Moors - Ripley - Peak District

Today we'll discover the dramatic Ripley Castle – an iconic country house. To complete a day of historic
sightseeing, we'll end at the stunning Peak District. Meals - Breakfast

Day 4 - Peak District - Chatsworth House - Peak District
This morning we'll stretch our legs on a stroll at Chatsworth House, which oozes Elizabethan history and
contemporary culture. We'll also see the stunning architecture said to have inspired Jane Austen, and the rooms
that featured in the film Pride and Prejudice. We'll also visit Blue John Cavern, a world-famous series of caves.
Meals - Breakfast & Dinner

Day 5 - Peak District - Lincoln
Today we'll say farewell to the picturesque Peak District and journey onwards to the historic town of Lincoln,
where we have a visit to the Lincoln Cathedral and Castle lined up. After that, you'll be free to explore at your
leisure. Meals - Breakfast

Day 6 - Lincoln - Sandringham Estate - Cambridge
After a walking tour of Lincoln, a date with royalty is in store as we move on to Sandringham Estate. The private
residence of Her Majesty The Queen is a magnificent stately house with picturesque gardens and even a museum. Our final stop of the day will be the iconic town of Cambridge, our home for the next two nights. Meals - Breakfast

Day 7 - Cambridge
Today, the city will be yours to admire the beautiful ‘Backs' of Cambridge University and spot world-famous
buildings such as The Wren Library and the Bridge of Sighs. Spend the day stepping inside colleges and chapels,
museums and galleries – or simply indulge in a little retail therapy. This evening, we'll come together for one last group dinner. Meals - Breakfast & Dinner

Day 8 - Cambridge - Newmarket - London
There's time for one more behind-the-scenes tour today as we delve into England's sporting heritage at Newmarket
National Stud. At this working thoroughbred stud farm we may see stallions in the paddocks and, occasionally, foals
in the nursery. We'll see in the end of our tour in London, where we'll say goodbye. Meals - Breakfast
