Day 1: Arrive Yangon
Arrive in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). You are welcomed and escorted to the hotel. (D)

Day 2: Yangon Sightseeing
Visit the sights of Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon), including Shwedagon Pagoda (the worldfamous glittering gold stupa), the National Museum and Bogyoke (Scott) Market (a good place for shopping). Enjoy a special dinner and a cultural show tonight. (BLD)

Day 3: Yangon / Bagan
Fly to Bagan, an enchanting city on the Irrawaddy River and one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia. Some 5000 temples stand in ruins, in testament to their former greatness. Your full day of touring includes visits to Bagan’s most important emples and pagodas. (BLD)

Day 4: Mt. Popa Excursion
Drive to Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano and abode of Nats (spirits). Visit the shrine at which ancient royalty paid homage and enjoy a panoramic view of the Bagan plain. Return to Bagan for an afternoon at leisure. Bicycles and horse-carts can be hired for an interesting look at this fascinating city. (BLD)

Day 5: Bagan / Mandalay
Fly to Mandalay, seat of the last Burmese monarchy and a center for culture and art. More than any other place, Mandalay reflects the true spirit of Burma. Visit Shwenandaw Monastery noted for exquisite woodcarvings; Kuthodaw Pagoda with the world’s biggest book and the Mandalay Palace (built by King Mindon). Stand atop Mandalay Hill for an impressive panoramic view of the city. (BLD)

Day 6: Amarapura & Sagaing Excursion
Drive to nearby Amarapura, an ancient capital. Visit the Bugaya Monastery, U Bein’s Bridge and Thabyedan Fort. After lunch, continue to Ywataung Village, Kaunghmudaw Pagoda and Sagaing Hill (a treasure trove of Burmese art and architecture). (BLD)

Day 7: Mandalay / Inle Lake
Fly to Heho, a short drive from attractive Inle Lake. This is a region populated by local ethnic groups known as Inthas. Highlights of your scenic boat excursion include floating gardens, a floating market and typical monasteries. (BLD)

Day 8: Inle Lake / Yangon
Fly back to Yangon today. Visit Kaba Aye (World Peace) Pagoda and Maha Pasana Guha Cave Later visit Chinatown and the lively evening market.(BLD)

Day 9: Depart Yangon
Morning transfer to airport for flight back home. (B)
