Day 1 - Arrive Tunis / Hammamet
Arrive Tunis where you are met and escorted to your hotel in Hammamet. (D)
Day 2 – Hammamet / Port El Kantaoui / Sousse / El Jem / Sfax
Depart for Port El Kantaoui, a modern and stylish holiday resort, before continuing to Sousse. Visit the Medina and stop for lunch. Continue to El Jem and visit it’s famous Colosseum – a huge amphitheater built during the Roman Empire. Proceed to Sfax for the night. (BLD)
Day 3 – Sfax / Gabes / Matmata / Douz / Tozeur
Depart for Gabes to see the famous market of spices of Jara. Continue to Matmata to see the unique underground dwellings built into the rock. After lunch travel to Douz, known as “the Gate of the Desert”. Option to take a camel ride (for own account). Continue to Tozeur via Chott El Djerid salt lake. Overnight Tozeur. (BLD)
Day 4 – Tozeur / Chebika / Tamerza / Nefta / Tozeur
Take a 4WD excursion to the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza. Return to Tozeur for lunch, and an afternoon tour to the oasis of Nefta which has about 400,000 palm trees. Option to take a 4WD excursion to the impressive dunes at Oung Ejjmal, where “Star Wars” was filmed (for own account). Return to Tozeur for the night. (BLD)
Day 5 – Tozeur / Sbeitla / Kairouan / Hammamet
Travel to Sbeitla, which is, after Carthage, the greatest testimony to the vitality of Christianity in Tunisia, with it’s many churches. Continue to Kairouan and, after
lunch, visit the mosque of Sidi OkbaOkba, the first mosque built in North Africa. Depart of Hammamet for the night. (BLD)
Day 6 – Hammamet / Thubourbo Majus / Dougga / Bullaregia / Tunis
Depart for Thubourbo Majus to see the Capitol, the Forum and the pagan temple converted into a Christian Church. Continue to Dougga to visit this important historic city, with emphasis on the Hill, the Mausoleum and the Temple of Caeslestis punicea. After lunch, depart for Bulla Regia to see the Great Theater and Spa and learn about the curious groundwater in the city. Travel to Tunis and overnight. (BLD)
Day 7 – Tunis / Carthage / Sidi Bou Said / Tunis
Visit ancient Carthage, with its splendid Antonine Spas, Amphitheatre, Punic Port and Roman villas. Return to Tunis for lunch and to visit the Bardo Museum, famous for its impressive and fine collections of mosaics. During a walking tour of Tunis, visit the old Medina, with its famous Ezzitouna Mosque and bustling souks. This afternoon visit Sidi Bou Said, a splendid Moorish village for a unique peppermint tea. Overnight in Tunis. (BLD)
Day 8 – Depart Tunis
Transfer to the Tunis airport for your departure flight. (B)
