7 Days / 6 Nights
Day 1 - Antananarivo
Arrive in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 – Antananarivo / Andasibe
Drive to Andasibe through the green and luxuriant vegetation of the east. Along the way you will see Merina villages in the rocky, mountains. Arrive at Andasibe and have a night walk to observe night active lemurs and other nocturnal animals. (B)
Day 3 – Mantadia National Park & Andasibe Nature Reserve
This morning, visit Mantadia National Park where you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of diademed Sifaka and Black and White-ruffed lemurs. In Andasibe Nature Reserve you are sure to see the Indri Indri – the largest lemurs on the island. The reserve contains a wide variety of orchids, canopy, and endemic animals like chameleons, tenrecs, and many birds. Both reserves are exceptionally rich in frogs and reptiles. (B)
Day 4 – Andasibe / Antananarivo / Tulear / Ranohira
Return to Tana in time for the flight to Tulear. On arrival you will be met and driven straight to Ranohira where you spend the night. (B)
Day 5 - Isalo National Park
Today you will walk to the ‘Natural swimming pool’ (about 1 ½ hour walk), observing the indigenous vegetation along the way, and perhaps Sifakas, Brown lemurs and Ringtailed lemurs, as well as fifty-five species of birds, lizards and snakes. Finally you reach the swimming pool, with its crystal clear water – a great reward after a long and very hot walk. Return to Ranohira for the night. (B)
Day 6 – Ranohira / Tulear / Antananarivo
Return to Tuléar through the dry forests of the west and the spiny desert of the south. En route, we admire the different ‘Mahafaly’ and ‘Antandroy’ tombs. Fly to Antananarivo and transfer to your hotel. (B)
Day 7 – Depart Antananarivo
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
